We have implemented a way for departments to have their own site home pages (think of a site within a site). The new department homepage can incorporate a third column that could be used for a blog, department specifc news or activities, forms, etc! Besides the additional column, a department specifc banner or image could be incorporated on the page as well. This is a great way for large departments to organize their information on the site.
